Make April 4 a delicious day in Dillsboro!

Do you want to spend a fun and rewarding day in Dillsboro but have no idea where to start? This itinerary was created for one of the most unique and exciting Dillsboro Spring events, the Easter Hat Parade! Although the parade is the main attraction, the entire day is full of family-friendly activities.

With Easter hat-making, food tastings, and pottery-painting, this day is the perfect way to welcome Spring. Hop in your car and make your way to Dillsboro by 10 a.m. on April 4, 2015 to begin your fun-filled day!

10 a.m.:  Start your day in Dillsboro at Tunnel Mountain Crafts located on Front Street. This quaint shop has begun carrying beautiful floral fairy crowns, just in time for spring. Next, check out the Cheddar Box, a store specializing in gourmet foods. Then it is on to Tree House Pottery where you will find the work of nationally acclaimed potters Travis Berning and Joe Frank McKee. End the first leg of your Front Street adventure at the Kitchen Shop. Contrary to the name, the Kitchen Shop contains everything from an authentic Woodstock ticket, hats from WWII and cookware to many different kinds of artwork.


11 a.m.:  Go to Dogwood Crafters on the corner of Webster Street and Front Street to register for our big event of the day, the Easter Hat Parade! You will have the opportunity to make an Easter hat you can wear, whether you want to march in the parade or watch from the sidewalk. While you are at it, ask to make reservations for the English Tea at the Jarrett House at 3 p.m. Then, browse this charming and eclectic store featuring the work of the region’s finest artists and crafters.

11:45 a.m.  For lunch, try the Well House, which is located across from the Huddle House off Highway 441 at the Riverwood Shops. The Well House offers a variety of gourmet sandwiches, salads and soups. Definitely delicious!


After your meal, walk over to Oaks Gallery to see the work of regional artists, including weaver Susan Leveille. Then, head to Riverwood Pottery to see stunning works of pottery and raku jewelry!


1:15 p.m.:  After browsing the Riverwood Shops, head back to Front Street to visit Monkey Toes, Shirley’s Boutique and Magnolia Jewelry in historic Canon’s Corner. Admire the colorful handmade socks in Monkey Toes, the fine clothing in Shirley’s Boutique, and the fun accessories at Magnolia Jewelry.

2 p.m.:  Make sure you hold on to your hats because it is time for the Easter Hat Parade!  The parade begins at

Town Hall and will be led by a fleet of restored, antique cars and the guest of honor, the Easter Bunny.

2:30 p.m.:  After the parade, stop by the Golden Carp to browse original artwork and home accessories of all type.


3:00 p.m. Cross the street to the Jarrett House for an authentic English tea party. A fundraiser for the Dogwood Crafters Building Fund, this event provides the opportunity to donate, sip tea, and enjoy fancy treats. Pinkies up!


4 p.m.:  After your tea, head to Nancy Tut’s Christmas Shop to Spring back into December!  After emerging from Winter Wonderland, head down Church Street to the beautifully decorated blue building that is home to Rabbit Creek Pottery.

Next, go grab a sweet treat right across the street at the Chocolate Factory on Church Street or up the street to Malts and More on Haywood Road. After all, this is a delicious day in Dillsboro!

5 p.m.: It’s 5 o’clock and time for a sip of wine. Go to the end of Front Street to Country Traditions were you can sample a variety of wines and gourmet food products, as well as purchase wine by the glass. The kids will enjoy playing with Freckles, the owners’ favorite hound.

6 p.m. For dinner, there are four fantastic choices. Try a local and family favorite, Kostas, which offers a wide variety of Greek and Italian food. Or, indulge in some of the best BBQ in the area at the Dillsboro Smokehouse. Finally, choose between the Historic Jarrett House’s traditional Southern food that made it famous or its brand new addition, Coach’s Bistro. You won’t go wrong with any of these great restaraunts!
