The aroma of German food and beer will fill the air when Dillsboro hosts its first annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 26. Several restaurants, including the Jarrett House, Dillsboro Smokehouse, and The Well House Deli, each will feature a German dish and serve Heinzelmännchen Brewery beer.
“We chose to feature Heinzelmännchen beer because they are a local craft beer,” said Mary Hartbarger of the Jarrett House. “That is what Dillsboro is about: local crafts.”
“It is always exciting to have Heinzelmännchen beer put on tap,” said Deiter Khun, owner of Heinzelmännchen Brewery. “Not only is it great for Heinzelmännchen Brewery, it is also great for Dillsboro as well.”
Oktoberfest will last all day and Khun will be visiting Dillsboro from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. He will make visits to the restaurants that will serve Heinzelmännchen beer.
Bradley’s General Store will be featuring German refreshments and entertainment for Oktoberfest.
Dillsboro merchants decided to bring this German tradition to the mountains of Western North Carolina because Heinzelmännchen, a German craft beer brewery, is located near Dillsboro in Sylva, N.C.
